Why Use QRForge?
Most free QR code generators come with a catch. They give you a QR code, but the code is actually a redirect through their own servers. When your free trial ends — usually after 30 days — the redirect breaks and your QR code stops working. Anyone who scans it sees an error page instead of your content.
QRForge works differently. Every QR code we generate encodes your content directly into the QR pattern itself. There is no redirect, no server in the middle, no account to maintain. The QR code is a standalone image that carries your information permanently. It will scan correctly in 10 years exactly as it does today.

This makes QRForge ideal for anything printed. Restaurant menus, business cards, product packaging, event flyers, office signs — any printed material that shows a QR code needs that code to work indefinitely. With redirect-based generators, you are paying a monthly subscription just to keep your printed materials functional. With QRForge, print once and never worry about it again.
Complete privacy — nothing leaves your device
QRForge runs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. When you enter a URL, WiFi password, or contact details, that information never leaves your device. There is no server receiving your data, no database storing your URLs, no analytics tracking what you generate. Your content is encoded directly into the QR image on your own computer and downloaded straight to your device.
QR codes for every use case
QRForge supports four types of QR codes, each optimised for a specific purpose:
- URL QR codes — The most common type. Paste any website address and anyone who scans the code is taken directly to that page. Perfect for sharing links on printed materials, product packaging, or business cards.
- WiFi QR codes — Let guests connect to your WiFi network by scanning a code, without needing to type the password. Ideal for cafes, restaurants, hotels, offices, and homes. Supports WPA, WPA2, WEP, and open networks.
- Contact QR codes — Encode your name, phone number, and email address in the standard vCard format. When scanned, the phone offers to save the contact directly to the address book. Great for business cards and networking events.
- Text QR codes — Encode any plain text message. When scanned, the phone displays the text directly. Useful for short instructions, notes, product information, or any message you want to share without a link.
PNG vs SVG — which format should you choose?
QRForge offers two download formats. PNG is a pixel-based image format best suited for digital use — embedding on websites, sharing on social media, inserting into emails, or using in presentations. SVG is a vector format that scales to any size without losing sharpness. Always use SVG for print. A QR code printed on a small business card and the same code printed on a large banner will both be perfectly crisp when exported as SVG.
