About QRForge
QRForge is a free, browser-based QR code generator built on a simple principle: QR codes you generate should work forever, without subscriptions, without logins, and without your data ever leaving your device.
Why we built QRForge
Most free QR code tools online are actually free trials in disguise. They generate a QR code, but the code works by redirecting through their servers. When your free period ends — usually 30 days — the redirect breaks and your QR code shows an error to everyone who scans it. If you printed that code on 500 business cards or a restaurant menu, you now have a problem.
QRForge was built to solve this. Every QR code generated on this site encodes your data directly into the QR pattern using the ISO/IEC 18004 standard. There is no redirect, no account, no server involved. The code is a standalone image that will scan correctly for as long as QR codes exist as a technology.
How it works
When you enter a URL, WiFi password, or contact details and click Generate, the QR encoding happens entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. The data is converted into a QR matrix, rendered as a PNG or SVG image, and downloaded directly to your device. At no point does your information travel over the internet to any server.
This approach also means QRForge is 100% private. We have no database, no analytics on what you generate, and no way to know what content you have encoded — because we never see it.
Who uses QRForge
QRForge is used by restaurant and cafe owners who print WiFi QR codes for customers, freelancers and professionals who include contact QR codes on business cards, small business owners who add QR codes to product packaging and flyers, event organisers who create QR codes linking to registration pages, teachers and educators who share resources via QR codes in classrooms, and developers and designers who need clean, scalable SVG QR codes for projects.
Supported QR code types
URL — Encode any website address. When scanned, the phone opens the link directly in the browser. Works with any URL including social media profiles, Google Maps locations, YouTube videos, and any webpage.
WiFi — Encode WiFi network credentials. When scanned, Android and iPhone phones offer to connect to the network automatically without typing a password. Supports WPA, WPA2, WEP, and open networks.
Contact — Encode a contact card in vCard format. When scanned, the phone displays the contact details and offers to save them to the address book. Includes name, phone number, and email address.
Text — Encode any plain text message. When scanned, the phone displays the text directly. Useful for instructions, notes, product information, or short messages.
Download formats
QRForge offers two download formats. PNG is ideal for digital use — websites, apps, emails, presentations, and social media. SVG is a vector format that scales to any size without losing quality. SVG is always the right choice for anything printed, including business cards, menus, posters, and product packaging.
Free forever
QRForge is and will remain free to use. The service is supported by Google AdSense advertising, which allows us to keep every feature available to everyone at no cost. We do not have premium tiers, paid plans, or features locked behind a paywall.
